Welcome

Welcome to the British Community of Practice of the International Association for Information and Data Quality. The community exists to bring together practitioners in the field of Information Quality throughout the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

All members of the IAIDQ working or living in the area are automatically members of the community unless they opt out. The community is virtual although physical get-togethers will be organised at key locations in the United Kingdom three or four times a year, often in conjunction with related events. We also work closely with the Irish Community of Practice and members working in Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man are free to join that Community if they so wish.

We are currently in the planning phase for 2007. We are looking to hold an inaugural virtual conference in the near future to find out who our members are and what they want from the Association. All UK members will be emailed when this is set up. We have begun discussions with the BCS to see how we can best work together to promote the cause of Information Quality (the first task looks like defining what we mean by "information"!).

We are also looking for sponsors so that we can hold a press launch and have a presence at as many as possible IDQ related conferences as possible during the year.

We are working with members of the Irish CoP to find a Content Management System that will satisfy the needs of the Association and enable members to make their own contributions to the web sites easily.

Vision

By cultivating information excellence throughout the information lifecycle, the IAIDQ will help transform organizations and society, improving the quality of life everywhere.

Mission

The IAIDQ is advancing information and data quality around the world by building a community, supporting learning and sharing knowledge for the benefit of all information consumers
