Gary Palmer

Gary Palmer is a professional direct marketer with two decades of experience in the industry. A member of the Institute of Direct Marketing since it was founded in 1994; he was made a Fellow in 2003.

After a decade of experience in running operational direct marketing departments in fields as diverse as publishing, consumer mail order and software sales, Gary embarked on a decade working client-side at a series of organisations driving database and marketing infrastructure projects, ranging from building campaign management and list selection tools to delivering data warehousing and CRM.

In the course of this long career working with data for marketing Gary has become ever more involved with data and information quality, becoming one of the pioneers of Information Value Management as a key success factor in data-based marketing and Business Intelligence. During this time he has either lead or advised on a number of data quality, address management and data migration projects, including spending a year as "Data Tsar" with legal publisher Sweet & Maxwell during their enterprise- wide SAP implementation.

An occasional speaker at IDM and other industry events, Gary also runs a free website dedicated to providing practitioners with resources and advice on Database Marketing, Data Quality and Information Management.
